U. S. stocks closed lower on Friday, with all three major indexes recording a second straight week of declines. The Dow fell for the fifth day in a row. Investors are reviewing the results of large commercial banks such as JPMorgan Chase and focusing on the outlook for Fed policy and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Both JPMorgan Chase and BlackRock CEO expressed concern about inflationary pressures in the United States.
The Dow fell 475.84 points, or 1.24%, to 37983.24; the Nasdaq fell 267.10, or 1.62%, to 16175.09; and the S & P 500 fell 75.65, or 1.46%, to 5123.41.
All three major indexes of U. S. stocks fell for the second week in a row. The Dow is down 2.37% in a week, the Nasdaq is down 0.45%, and the S & P 500 is down 1.56%.
