BEIJING, Auggratisfreespins. 8 (Xinhua) -- A special campaign, launched by China's Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) in February, has achieved notable progress in maintaining market order and improving the business environment, according to an official statement released on Thursday.
More than 62,000 suspects have been indicted for undermining market order in the first six months of this year, up 36.5 percent year on year, the SPP said in a press release.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,827 individuals who held influential positions in private enterprises were prosecuted for embezzlement and bribery, up 41.1 percent year on year, and 8,894 people were charged with intellectual property infringement, up 45.5 percent.
Prosecuting agencies also enhanced their supervision of law enforcement and judicial departments to curb abuse of power in civil and business disputes, the press release noted, adding that the SPP has supervised 24 high-profile cases that involved both state-owned and private enterprises.
In the next phase of the ten-month operation, prosecuting agencies will focus on strengthening the judicial protection of property rights, preventing and addressing abuses of administrative and judicial power in handling economic disputes, improving mechanisms for rectifying wrongful convictions involving enterprises, and ensuring equal protection for all types of business entities, according to the SPP.■
